Tulip Boat Revisited

This boat is one of my favorite scenes here at Paris Landing.  It's not my boat, but I wish it was.    The owners keep it planted with blooming flowers all during the growing season.

Here are a couple of photos from previous years.

Dogwoods

The Dogwoods can't decide ....

if they are green, or ....

or purple, or
somewhere in between.

And look at all those red berries!

I love Fall!

Flip Flops & Dragonflies

The Fishtale Lodge recently turned their swimming pool into a garden area with a waterfall.

Love the dragonfly and flip flops ... and the bike ... and the water fall.

Wish you could hear this waterfall.  It took me a few trips over there to realize the fresh, tropical feeling I was getting everytime I came to visit ~ was coming from the sound of this waterfall.

Remember this?

Well!  You should see it now.

The front.
All decked out in summer flowers.
Photographed at the Carpenter house on Lakehill Beach Estates Road.

The back.
Bill Carpenter gives Freida all the credit for their gorgeous flowers.

Love this yard ornament.

A Morning at the Lake

Things I Like At The Lake

Not only are the birds well fed ... they have a spectacular view!

Summertime flowers are having at.

Buy a print or view other scenes of my neighborhood by clicking here.
Found a pretty place to sit and watch the world go by over at Anne's place.

My sister Anne always lets the  Queen Anne's Lace grown wild in her yard.

And just look at this face!

Awwwww!

Daisys and Roses

The wild daisys are starting bloom.  Actually I'm not sure if these are daisys but they make me think of daisys and they bloom every year just about this time.

And the wild Roses are blooming too.

There are scenes all over Paris Landing like this.  The wild roses are very persistant and tough.  I hate to think how many times these have been sprayed and cut down.   And wild roses are the most fragrant of all roses.

Can you smell them?

Wisteria & Kittys

If you aren't into flowers or the wonders of Spring, you may need to take a detour for a few weeks from this blog. Here at Paris Landing we are having one of the most beautiful Springs!  All the flowers and blooming trees are perfect this year and I just can't help my self.  It's just too pretty to ignore.

So any way, I was visiting my friend Cindy Rice the other day and she mentioned she had a pretty Wisteria bush and didn't I need a photo of some Wisteria.  Well, I'm always game for a neat photograph and I had seen some Wisteria around here, a small bush here and there, but nothing that just begged to be photographed.  She kept telling me what a pretty Wisteria bush it was so I thought, why not?

Well .......

My goodness!

I love it!!!  And then - along came this sweet little creature!

Hello kitty, kitty!

And of course while I was there I had to look around for other neat things.

Like this lizard attached to a Kentucky Lake rock with their house number, and ..

... these pretty little stepping stones.

Well ... hello again!  Apparently the Wisteria also makes a great jungle gym for the kitty.

Back to interesting things.
A bird house in a bird bath.  How convenient!
One of the most interesting potting/storage??? sheds I've ever seen.
There may be a painting here.

Let's see now, why was I here?
Oh yes.

The Wisteria!
Bye, bye!  Hope you enjoyed your visit.

A Boat Full of Tulips

This landscape has to be a Paris Landing original.  A real boat full of Tulips!

I've been trying to get this photograph for about four Springs now.  I was always too early, too late, or the weather wouldn't cooperate.  Here's another view.

Bill Carpenter on Lakehill Beach Estates Road deserves a Green Thumb Award for these perfect tulips and for the idea of using an old boat for a raised flower bed.

Thank you Bill for brightening up our neigborhood and for putting up with that crazy photographer you keep seeing in your front yard.

Sweetvalley In the Spring

My little brother John owns a cabin in the prettiest little valley.

It's rightly named - Sweetvalley.

He rents it out to fishermen, hunters, nature lovers, honey mooners and all sorts of folks looking for a quiet, private little place to spend a weekend on Kentucky Lake.  You can check it out here.

His gardner, my sister Anne, has a green thumb and .... a thing for pansies,

and more pansies,
and more pansies,

and even pansies in a tree stump.  Actually, I really think this is a pretty creative way to cover up a stump.  What do you think?

Spring???

Everyone is asking, "Is Spring here to stay?"  Just because the Forsythia is blooming ....

.. and the Redbuds are blooming ...

.. and the frogs are ...  well, the frogs just are.

It doesn't mean that Spring is here to stay.  But we sure hope so!

Just Around the Corner

It's pouring down rain as I write.  But yesterday was a beautiful day in Paris Landing.  The temperature was in the high 50's, the sun was out and there was no wind.  I think the wind blew itself out the night before.  Days like yesterday are one of the things I like so much about living here.  They're kind of like little spring vacations.  We'll have a week of cold, wet, windy weather, then a day like yesterday that makes you want to get out and play.

So play I did.  And while I was out playing I discovered these -

The daffodils are starting to bud!!!  I really get excited when I see these.  I know Winter isn't over, but can Spring be far behind?

And if you look close ....

The Bradford Pear's fuzzy little velvet buds are starting to turn green.  It won't be long til they bloom.  We have a lot of these around Paris Landing and they put on quite a show.

So ... hang in there.  Spring is just around the corner.

Boat or Flower Bed?

You have to look close to tell this flower bed is actually a boat - maybe a canoe.  I've driven by this property on Lakehill Beach Estates many times through the year.  In the Spring it has beautiful tulips.  I love this idea for a very original raised bed.

Mail Boxes In The Fall

Even though the temperature today is supposed to be in the 80's ... Fall is in the air at Paris Landing.  Foliage is starting to turn colors and fall, the mums are starting to bloom and the nights are cool and crisp.  In a short while the color scheme around the lake will change from shades of green to brilliant oranges, yellows and reds.
